FOIA Request to Town of Big Flats Regarding Same Day Registered Voters for 2024 Election on November 7, 2024.
We at SC Wisconsin News have formally requested the Town of Big Flats to provide a list of new voter registrations that occurred on Election Day, November 5, 2024. This request was made under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., and we expressed a preference for receiving this information in an electronic format.
As a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These responsibilities include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
In light of our role in disseminating information to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional. We eagerly await the response from the Town of Big Flats and will continue our pursuit of transparency and accountability in local government.
