A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Town Of Green Lake, Wisconsin, seeking voter registration records for the November 5, 2024 election. The request was made by SC Wisconsin News on November 7, 2024.

The specific request pertains to a list of new voters who registered to vote on Election Day itself. As a news organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate coverage of local governmental affairs, we at SC Wisconsin News believe that access to such public records is crucial in fulfilling our professional responsibilities.

Our mission includes holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. We have therefore requested these records under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., preferably in an electronic format for ease of analysis and reporting.

As members of the media involved in gathering and disseminating news to the public, we also expressed our belief that we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.

We await a response from the Town Of Green Lake regarding this FOIA request and will continue to keep our readers informed about developments in this matter.
