FOIA Request to Village of Arlington Regarding Same Day Registered Voters for 2024 Election on November 7, 2024.
As part of our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at SC Wisconsin News have sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Village of Arlington. The request, dated November 7, 2024, seeks information under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., specifically asking for a list of new voter registrations that occurred on Election Day, November 5, 2024.
We believe that access to public records is essential in fulfilling our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we have requested a fee waiver for this information.
We await the response from the Village of Arlington and will continue our efforts in promoting transparency and accountability in local government.
