FOIA Request to Village of Marquette Regarding Same Day Registered Voters on November 7, 2024.
We at SC Wisconsin News have formally requested the release of public records under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., from the Village of Marquette. The specific request pertains to a list of new voter registrations that were processed on November 5, 2024.
As a media organization committed to comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, access to such public records is vital for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
In our request, we expressed our belief in being eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals involved in gathering and reporting news to the public. We await a response from the Village of Marquette regarding this matter.
