A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Village of Poynette, Wisconsin, regarding a list of new voter registrations that occurred on November 5, 2024. The request was sent by SC Wisconsin News, a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.

The FOIA request, dated November 7, 2024, specifically asked for records under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., preferably in electronic format. As part of our commitment to transparency and accountability in public institutions, we at SC Wisconsin News believe access to these public records is essential for fulfilling our professional responsibilities.

In the letter, we stated our role as members of the media involved in gathering and reporting news to the public. We further expressed our belief that we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals due to our role in disseminating information.

As always, SC Wisconsin News remains dedicated to ensuring transparency and holding public institutions accountable. We await a response from the Village of Poynette and will continue to provide updates on this matter as they become available.
