Leaders from Aspirus Health welcomed State Senator Patrick Testin to the Aspirus Wisconsin Rapids Hospital and Clinics on July 25. The visit provided an opportunity for hospital officials to discuss their services and programs with the senator.

Chris Squire, President of Aspirus WI South & Southwest Divisions, said, “We were thrilled to share with Senator Testin the great work being done by our staff in Wisconsin Rapids. We were able to especially highlight our incredibly strong obstetrics and emergency services, including a tour through the Birthing Suites and Emergency Department.”

During his visit, Senator Testin toured the Mid-State Technical College Healthcare Simulation Center located on the third floor of the hospital. The simulation center is a collaborative effort between Aspirus and Mid-State Technical College that offers students practical training opportunities. Squire noted, “The simulation center partnership was a key highlight. Senator Testin was able to see both the inpatient and outpatient simulation labs. The labs include high-quality manikins that allow students to practice direct patient care in a safe learning environment.”

Aspirus leaders also presented information about their Community Benefits program during the legislative visit. This included support for initiatives such as Families and Schools Together (FAST) at local schools, a Fruit and Vegetable Prescription Program for eligible patients, and collaboration with Three Bridges Recovery aimed at improving access for those recovering from substance use.

Ryan Lown, Chief Administrative Officer at Aspirus Wisconsin Rapids Hospital, stated, “This was another great opportunity for us to highlight the impact of our programs and services to Senator Testin. We thank him for visiting and look forward to continuing the discussion on these important topics.”

Senator Testin was also thanked for his service as co-vice chair on the Joint Finance Committee and his role in passing Wisconsin’s state budget on July 3. The budget includes significant Medicaid rate increases for hospitals across the state.
