FOIA Request Sent to Waushara County Sheriff's Department Regarding Arrest Records on October 22, 2024

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was submitted to the Waushara County Sheriff's Department on October 22, 2024. The request was made by SC Wisconsin News, a media organization committed to comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.

In the request, we asked for all arrest records from January 1, 2024, to the present day. The data points we sought include arrestee name, sex, race, age, date of birth (DOB), citizenship status, booking ID, date of arrest, booking photo, names of arresting officers, type of crime committed, location of the crime and date of the crime.

As a news organization serving Wisconsin communities and beyond, SC Wisconsin News believes in the importance of transparency in public institutions. Access to these records will allow us to fulfill our professional responsibilities effectively. These responsibilities include holding public institutions accountable and providing accurate information to the public.

We also requested a fee waiver as a media professional due to our role in gathering and disseminating information.

The FOIA request is part of our ongoing commitment at SC Wisconsin News to keep our readers informed about local government activities and maintain transparency in our reporting process. We look forward to sharing more updates once we receive a response from the Waushara County Sheriff's Department.
