Aspirus Health Foundation has received a significant donation aimed at upgrading biopsy technology at the Aspirus Stevens Point Hospital Breast Care Center. The contribution, made by Joe and Cindy Kinsella from Almond, Wisconsin, will enhance patient care by providing more efficient and compassionate services.
Cindy Kinsella explained their motivation: “This opportunity and breast biopsy technology hit home for us. When we met and talked about it, we just knew that this is something we wanted to do and are fortunate to be able to provide the funding necessary to help ensure quality, close-to-home health care.”
The new biopsy system will replace the existing technology installed in 2018. Tracy Rekowski, Imaging Services Manager at Aspirus Stevens Point Hospital, stated that the new system allows radiologists to obtain real-time sample imaging and perform point-of-care biopsy verification. This advancement is expected to reduce patient discomfort and anxiety during exams.
The Breast Care Center provides comprehensive services including mammograms, ultrasound, biopsies, surgery, and oncology treatments. Carrie Penovich, Aspirus Southeast WI Regional President, expressed gratitude: “On behalf of our 1,000 regional employees and the almost 80,000 patients we serve annually in Stevens Point, Plover and the surrounding communities, our heartfelt thank you to the Kinsellas.”
Gregg Gutschow from Aspirus Health Foundation highlighted the Kinsellas' long-standing support: “This gift is transformative but not surprising as I have gotten to know Joe and Cindy.” He noted their past involvement in campaigns supporting the center’s construction.
Additionally, both Joe and Cindy Kinsella have contributed to the Angel Fund established in 2018. This fund offers free breast cancer screenings for financially eligible patients in Portage County.
The Aspirus Health Foundation continues its mission to enhance healthcare services through community partnerships. Those interested in supporting can contact Gregg Gutschow or visit their website for more information.
