Aspirus Stevens Point Hospital has been recognized as one of the 2025 Top 100 Rural & Community Hospitals by The Chartis Center for Rural Health. This recognition is part of Chartis’ annual award program, which evaluates rural hospitals based on the Chartis Rural Hospital Performance INDEX.
Carrie Penovich, President of Aspirus Southeast WI Division, stated, “Being a Top 100 Rural & Community Hospital means our community can count on us to deliver the services they need.” She attributed this achievement to the dedication of clinicians, staff, and leadership in fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Aspirus Stevens Point stands out as one of four hospitals in Wisconsin to receive this honor and is the only facility in central and northern Wisconsin recognized this year. Beth Sekerka, Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer at Aspirus Stevens Point Hospital, highlighted factors contributing to their success: “Our low infection rates, low length of stay, positive patient experience and staff engagement scores all contribute to this recognition.”
The INDEX used for these rankings is a comprehensive assessment tool that relies on publicly available data. It serves as a benchmark for rural hospitals across the nation to evaluate performance in various operational and financial areas.
Michael Topchik, Executive Director at The Chartis Center for Rural Health, remarked on the significance of the award program: “The Top 100 Rural & Community Hospitals award program elevates the very best performers and helps create a roadmap for those seeking to improve financial and operational performance while continuing to care for the communities they serve.” He also noted that this year marks the tenth anniversary of recognizing top-performing rural hospitals.
