Great Northern Distilling and Bound to Happen Books are joining forces to honor the centennial of F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic novel, The Great Gatsby. The event is set to take place on April 10 from 5 pm to 10 pm at Great Northern Distilling in Stevens Point, Wisconsin.

The evening will commence with a facilitated book discussion from 5 to 6 pm, led by Dr. Ross K. Tangedal, Associate Professor of English and the Director/Publisher of the Cornerstone Press at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (UWSP). The discussion will focus on the enduring themes and literary significance of Fitzgerald’s work.

From 7 to 10 pm, attendees will experience the main event, which promises live music by A Joyful Little Band, set against a backdrop of Jazz Age elegance. Great Northern's mixologists will craft Gatsby-themed cocktails, adding to the thematic ambiance of the celebration.

There are two ticket options available for participants. A $30 ticket provides access to the book discussion and includes a copy of The Annotated Great Gatsby: 100th Anniversary Deluxe Edition, along with complimentary entry to the later celebration. Alternatively, those wishing to attend only the Gatsby-themed party can purchase separate tickets for $10, available both online and at the venue entrance.

As the novel celebrates a century, guests will be reminded of the story's central character, Jay Gatsby, a figure of immense wealth and charisma, caught in an eternal longing for the elusive Daisy Buchanan. The Great Gatsby remains a sharp portrayal of the Roaring Twenties, challenging the values of a society fixated on wealth and status.

Bound to Happen Books, founded in 2021, is an independent bookstore committed to showcasing diverse authors and narratives. They have been a prominent presence in Central Wisconsin, offering literary works and gifts that enhance community experiences.
