The Central Wisconsin Symphony Orchestra will wrap up its 76th season with a concert titled "Mozart & Mahler" at the Sentry Theater on Saturday, April 12, at 7:30 p.m. According to the orchestra, the program will include "Overture to Don Giovanni" and "Exsultate jubilate" by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, alongside Gustav Mahler's "Symphony No. 4 in G Major." The event will also highlight soprano Sonia Grimsled as a guest artist.
Grimsled has built a career performing various classical and contemporary pieces throughout the Midwest, the Pacific Northwest, and France. Some of her favored roles include Franca Naccarelli in "The Light in the Piazza" by Adam Guettel, Maman in "L’enfant et les sortilèges" by Maurice Ravel, Antonia in Offenbach's "The Tales of Hoffman," and Countess Almaviva in Mozart's "Le nozze di Figaro." Currently residing in central Wisconsin, Grimsled contributes to the BFA Musical Theatre program at UW-Stevens Point and offers private lessons through Noteworthy Music Studio. She participated as a semifinalist in the 2024 NATS Artist Awards in New York.
The Central Wisconsin Symphony Orchestra encompasses 65 professional musicians from the central Wisconsin area, celebrating over seven decades at the forefront of regional culture. Musicians are a diverse group, including educators, professors, students, and professionals. The orchestra describes its mission as a commitment “to enrich, engage, and educate through the power and performance of live music.”
