The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point College of Natural Resources has honored exceptional contributors in the fields of natural resources, industry innovation, and environmental conservation with its annual awards for 2024–25.

Dr. Mark Drew has been awarded the Outstanding Alumnus Award for his distinguished career and contributions to wildlife. Drew, a graduate of UW-Stevens Point, pursued further education in zoology and veterinary medicine. He has been a leader in wildlife care education, teaching at Safe Capture International and contributing to the San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance Academy. Drew has also served as a wildlife veterinarian in California and Idaho and held academic positions at notable universities. He frequently supports UW-Stevens Point through donations and guidance.

The Paper Industry Leadership Award was given to Ahlstrom Oyj, a leader in fiber-based specialty materials headquartered in Finland. Ahlstrom, recognized for its sustainability initiatives, has a strong partnership with UW-Stevens Point, providing support in student learning and career opportunities.

The Conservation Leader Award was presented to Wisconsin Healthy Grown, an initiative fostering conservation in farming developed in collaboration with the Universities of Wisconsin among others. The initiative annually sponsors an intern from UW-Stevens Point for various conservation projects.

William Kolodziej received the CNR Outstanding Contributor Award for his long-term contributions and support of the college. Kolodziej has provided valuable hands-on instruction across several courses and played an essential role in preparing students for national contests.

“These honorees exemplify the mission and values of the College of Natural Resources,” said Brian Sloss, Dean of the College of Natural Resources. “They are role models in their fields, mentors to our students, and champions of the environment. We proudly recognize their achievements and strong ties to our university.”

The awards were formally presented at the college’s annual spring banquet.
