The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Department of Theatre and Dance has announced its 2025-26 season, which will center on the theme “Life, Longing and Legacy.” The upcoming lineup features a mix of plays and dance performances exploring connection across time through humor, music, and movement.
“Ultimately this season is about connection and how the past, present, and future align to create rich, full experiences,” said Michael Estanich, professor and chair of the Department of Theatre & Dance. “My hope is that the bold new stories and original dances this season remind you of the importance and impact that the arts have in our community.”
The season opens with two short murder mysteries: “Shall We Join the Ladies?”—a dinner party drama where guests uncover secrets—and “Trifles,” which follows Minnie Foster Wright as she is accused of murdering her husband. Performances are scheduled for September 18-20 at 7:30 p.m., with a matinee on September 21 at 2 p.m., in Room 221 at the Noel Fine Arts Center on Portage Street in Stevens Point. Tickets for these shows are $10 and available online at tickets.uwsp.edu.
Other productions scheduled for the season include:
- “Picasso at the Lapin Agile” (October 17-19), an absurdist comedy featuring Albert Einstein and Pablo Picasso in a Paris café.
- “Ride the Cyclone” (November 7-9, 13-15), where six teenagers face unexpected consequences after a tragic accident.
- “Afterimages 2025” (December 5-7), showcasing original student choreography.
- “She Kills Monsters” (February 27-March 7), a dramatic comedy set against a backdrop of fantasy creatures and ‘90s culture.
- “The Secret Garden” (April 10-18), based on Frances Hodgson Burnett’s novel with music by Lucy Simon.
- “Danstage 2026” (May 1-3), presenting works by UWSP faculty alongside guest artists.
