U.S. GEOLOGICAL SURVEY – LOW FLYING HELICOPTER
0Comments

City of Monroe issued the following announcement on Feb 23.

Don’t panic if you see a helicopter flying low (as low as 100 feet!) and primarily focused on local rural areas.

The U.S. Geological Survey will be conducting an electromagnet survey of Southwest Wisconsin using a large octagon-shaped device attached to a helicopter.

The device will measure groundwater in the region and provide a better understanding of the aquifer system and guidance for maintaining a healthy groundwater system.

More information, including a flight tracker, can be found at USGS SURVEY 2022.

General footage of the surveying equipment can be viewed at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qSTddN9njuk
