Aspirus Divine Savior Hospital & Clinics issued the following announcement on Oct. 20
More than 180 participants recently strolled through a mile-long glowing light display during Aspirus Riverview Foundation’s inaugural “Journey into Lights of Love” benefit walk.
Walkers gathered at Anchor Bay Bar & Grill in Biron to support the legacy of loved ones and community organizations. Participants strolled along the Wisconsin River, enjoying the creativity sponsors exhibited in the more than 25 light displays and entertainment by piano player/singer Anthony Lux.
As the sun set on the Wisconsin River, thousands of solar lights began illuminating the walking path. Many people enjoyed the white and red lights coming from the Biron Fire Department’s brand-new fire truck. The light display honoring the life of former Aspirus Riverview employee Bill Babcock touched many hearts as well. One walker described the event as the “perfect evening,” saying that “the mile walk is wonderful, and it is perfect for my little guy who loves looking at the lights.” Two awed participants commented that their favorite part was “strolling through the 24-foot tunnel of lights while listening to the musician play.”
Aspirus Riverview Foundation thanks all the sponsors, community members, and committee members who made the inaugural “Journey into Lights of Love” benefit walk a success.
20th Anniversary of Lights of Love
A community tradition since 2001, Lights of Love celebrates our loved ones through the purchase of lights in their honor or memory. All proceeds are used by Aspirus Riverview Foundation to support initiatives focused on our community’s greatest health needs, including substance abuse, behavioral health, food systems and cancer.
For $3 each, anyone may purchase a Light of Love. There are also opportunities to donate $25 (silver level) or $100+ (gold level) in honor or memory of someone special.
Lights of Love may be purchased year-round and shine throughout the holiday season on the Lights of Love tree on the north side of Aspirus Riverview Hospital.
