Meet Executive Chef Daniel Minnema | Portage

Meet Executive Chef Daniel Minnema | Portage

Chef Daniel Minnema brings 36 years of experience.

“I grew up on a farm just outside of Randolph, Wisconsin as the youngest of four brothers and three sisters, starting my culinary career at 18 years old in Colorado. I learned the trade from Executive Chef Maurice at the Hotel Jerome in Aspen, followed him, and trained for over four years.

After moving back to Wisconsin, I decided to get my culinary degree from Fox Valley Tech, then stayed on for three years as a culinary trainer working with students to teach the trade.

I worked for Helgesen Harpos in Janesville for over 6 years as their Executive Chef, then took my talents up to the Madison area at the Cannery Grill, what is now the Nitty Gritty East. There I began developing menus for lunch, dinner, and banquets.

From there, I worked over 3 years as the Executive Chef for Stoughton Country Club, developing menus for current members, actually improving membership by over 65 people.

Then, I took my culinary talents to the Baraboo Country Club for over two and a half years, developing menus, banquets, weddings and just taking care of members.

I now bring over 36 years of culinary knowledge to you while utilizing my experience at golf clubs, working with members, and creating a menu that I hope not only tantalizes your taste buds, but also creates an atmosphere of good conversations. I am looking forward to getting to know you!!!”
