The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point's School of Education is set to host a watch party for the Raising Wisconsin's Children Conference on January 28. This event, which is free to attend, will be held at the Dreyfus University Center Theater from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The conference is an online learning event aimed at parents, teachers, and caregivers. It focuses on providing practical strategies based on research to support children's social, emotional, and developmental growth.
"The work we do today with Wisconsin's youngest children shapes their potential and, ultimately, the future of our communities," said Sarah Beaulieu, Assistant Professor at the School of Education. "By investing in nurturing, supportive environments for children in these critical years, we are empowering them to thrive and building a stronger, more resilient state for generations to come."
Attendees can participate in the entire event or choose specific sessions. Topics covered include early brain development, mindfulness for well-being, managing challenging behaviors in early childhood, supporting transitions to kindergarten, treating childhood anxiety and OCD, and raising resilient teenagers.
Registration for this event can be completed online at https://go.wisc.edu/10f222. Snacks and beverages will be provided during the watch party. Additionally, continuing education credit through the Wisconsin Registry is available for select sessions.
The UWSP School of Education sponsors this event in partnership with UW Extension. Alicia Utke from UW Extension Waupaca County can be contacted for further information at utkebecher@wisc.edu or 715-258-6225.
