The Central Wisconsin Symphony Orchestra (CWSO) is set to mark Valentine's Day weekend with a concert titled "Beethoven's Fifth" on February 15th at the Sentry Theater. This event will be the first concert of 2025 for the CWSO and represents the third performance in their 76th season.
The program includes "Overture No. 1" by Louise Farrenc, "Variations on a Theme by Haydn" by Johannes Brahms, "Piano Concerto in A Minor, Movement I" by Edvard Grieg, and Ludwig van Beethoven's renowned "Symphony No. 5." The concert will feature Megan Yang, winner of the Jenkins Family Young Artist 2024 Concerto Competition, who will perform Movement I of Grieg’s Piano Concerto.
Megan Yang has been studying piano for over twelve years under her father Tom Yang and other instructors including Ann Marie Novak, Carolyn Frazier, and Molly Roseman at the American Suzuki Institute. She has received recognition at various competitions such as WSMA District Auditions and WMTA Badger Piano Auditions. In addition to her achievements in piano, Megan plays violin and is involved with the Central Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestra Program since 2019. Her musical education includes studies with David Becker, Oscar Soler, Michelle Wenzel, and Pat D’Ercole.

Additionally, half-season tickets for the 2024-2025 season can be acquired through various channels including the CWSO office located inside the Smith Scarabocchio Art Museum or by calling 715-345-7726.
The CWSO comprises sixty-five professional musicians from central Wisconsin. The members have diverse backgrounds as music educators, university professors, students, and full-time musicians. Celebrating its 75th anniversary this year, the orchestra remains integral to Central Wisconsin's arts scene with a mission “To enrich, engage and educate through the power and performance of live music.”
