Ruthie Knox and Annie Mare, both Wisconsin-based authors, are set to launch their latest novel, "Big Name Fan," at the Starry Night Cat Cafe in Stevens Point on February 27th. The event will run from 6 pm to 8 pm and requires tickets for entry, which include a copy of the book.
The authors, who have penned numerous bestselling novels individually and as a duo under the pseudonym Mae Marvel, specialize in mysteries and queer romances. Their new work is described as an amateur detective story with elements of queer romance and is deeply rooted in Hollywood culture and fandom communities.
"Big Name Fan" follows characters Bexley Simon and Sam Farmer, former stars of a cult TV show called "Craven’s Daughter." Five years after the show's end, they reunite for a network reunion special and podcast series. During this process, they discover that an anonymous fan fiction writer known as Big Name Fan might be someone from their past cast or crew. As they investigate further, they also revisit the mysterious death of their friend Jen Arnot.
The event is hosted by Bound to Happen Books, an independent bookstore in Central Wisconsin focused on diverse stories. Established in 2021, it aims to highlight experiences not commonly represented in the community.
