Midstate Independent Living Choices (MILC) is set to host its inaugural Disability Pride Festival on August 2, 2025, at Lake Pacawa Park in Plover. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The festival coincides with MILC's 25th anniversary and the 35th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). It aims to celebrate individuals with disabilities and create an inclusive environment for all attendees.

The free event will feature performances by artists with disabilities, adapted recreational activities such as cycling and kayaking, disability-owned shops and vendors, art activities, food options, and more.

This initiative draws inspiration from the disability pride movement, which seeks to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and honor the identity and achievements of people with disabilities.

Those interested in sponsoring the event can contact Don Wigington at 715-344-4217 or via email at dwigington@milc-inc.org. Inquiries about the festival can be directed to Kinzie Olson at kolson@milc-inc.org or Madison Matijevich at mmatijevich@milc-inc.org. More details are available on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/events/659854716596946.

MILC is a consumer-controlled nonprofit organization serving 11 counties in Wisconsin. Its mission is "Empowering people toward independence." Additional information about MILC can be found at www.milc-inc.org.
