Mid-State Technical College is set to host its first Chalk the College event on July 19, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Stevens Point Downtown Campus. This community event is part of a yearlong celebration marking the 10th anniversary of the campus's downtown location.
Artists interested in participating are encouraged to register early due to limited spots. The registration fee is $10 and can be paid online or in person with cash or check at any Mid-State location until July 18.
"Chalk the College is part of a yearlong celebration marking the 10th anniversary of our Stevens Point campus being located downtown," said Ben Nusz, Dean of the Stevens Point Downtown Campus. "To highlight the anniversary, one of the judging criteria encourages participants to draw inspiration from the number 10, the city of Stevens Point or even the former mall that once stood where our campus is today. Other themes include showcasing Mid-State’s academic programs and school spirit."
The competition will reward creativity with Visa gift cards for the top three artists, judged on artistic merit and theme incorporation.
Attendees will also have access to food from Baked ‘N Loaded food truck, free Mid-State Cranberry Cougar Swirl ice cream, and guided tours of the campus.
Further details about participation rules, judging criteria, and registration information can be found at mstc.edu/chalk-the-college.
