Portage Community School District Education: 1,975 students were enrolled in schools in 2024-25 school year

There were 1,975 students enrolled in Portage Community School District in the 2024-25 school year, 4% less than the previous year, according to the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2024-25 school year, 51.9% identified themselves as boys, 48.1% as girls.

Data also shows that most of the students were white, accounting for 79.3% of the Portage Community School District total enrollment.

Portage Community School District covers 10 schools within Columbia County, with its main office in Portage.

Among the 10 schools in the district, Portage High School recorded the highest enrollment of 600 students in the 2024-25 school year.

Wisconsin had a student-to-teacher ratio of 14-to-1 in 2025, lower than the national average of 16-to-1, according to Public School Review.
